A neurohormone is any hormone produced and released by neurons.^[1]

Examples include:

Thyrotropin-releasing hormone (TRH)^[2]
Gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH)^[3]
Adrenocorticotropin-releasing hormone^[4]
Oxytocin^[5]
Antidiuretic hormone (ADH)^[6]

In contrast to the classical hormones oxytocin and ADH, which are released to the blood and distributed throughout the body,^[7]^[8] neurotransmitters can be considered paracrine hormones as they travel short distances to target cells.^[9]
