Nazir Ahmed (19??-1983), was Pakistani film actor, director and producer. He was the first successful film hero in Pakistan. Nazir was born in Lahore. After completing his education, he was moved to Calcutta. He started his career from Ezra Mir’s silent-film Zarina in 1932. He appeared in silents like Chankaya with Kardar directing. After that he was shifted to Bombay. His first successful film was Kardar’s Baghban.

In 1945, Nazir started Laila Majnu under the banner of Hind Pictures, and he was cast Swaranlata as Laila. This film, an Arabian love legend, gave rise to a real life romance off the screen as well. After that film Swaranlata and Nazir got married.

In 1947, Swaran and Nazir migrate to Pakistan at the time of Partition. They left everything they had behind in Bombay and shifted to Lahore. The duo had to start from scratch and in the process became one of the pioneers of the Pakistan film industry.

His film as hero and director Pheray was the first ever silver jubilee film in Pakistan. His other films as hero were Laaray, Naukar, Anokhi Dastan, Bheegi Palken, Soteeli Maa and Shama. He appeared as character actor in Azmat-e-Islam and Sawaal and he directed Shehri Babu and Heer.

Nazir made more films like Naukar, Bhigeen Palkain, Haveli and Hamida. He also made Larey, Shehri Baboo, Anookhi Dastaan, Heer, Khatoon, Noor-e-Islam, and Azmat-e-Islam. His last film Shohar was never released. Nazir was died in Lahore in 1983.
