National League A (NLA) (French: Ligue Nationale A (LNA), Italian: Lega Nazionale A) is a professional ice hockey league in Switzerland. It is the top tier of the Swiss league system and of the two-tier National League. Before the 2007-08 season, the league was officially called Nationalliga A in German.
The league currently consists of 12 teams. The top eight teams after the regular season qualify for the play-offs to determine the Swiss champion in best-of-seven series. The four last teams need to play in a relegation tournament, the so-called play-outs. The loser of the playout-final contends the winner of the National League B play-offs in a best-of-seven series for a spot in the successive NLA season.
