Nagari is a Municipal town in Chittoor district in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is a semi agrarian – semi industrialised town. A sizeable textile manufacturing industry thrives in and around Nagari. A town panchayat till recent past, it is a Municipal town now and at a distance of . It is on the Andhra - Tamil Nadu border with a prominent Tamil speaking populace.

Nagari is located at 13°20′N 79°35′E / 13.33°N 79.58°E / 13.33; 79.58^[1]. It has an average elevation of 115 metres (380 feet).

The town is surrounded by hills all around with the prominent cliff popularly known as Nagari nose is conspicuous for miles around. Which was used as a light house in olden days in Bay of Bengal. Still every Powrnami day light will be lit in the nose of the hill.

The name of the town Nagari originated from the above mentioned hill, "Nag" means Nose and "Giri" means Hill in Telugu.

The Nagari a.k.a Kusasthalai river runs on the south of Nagari.

In summer temperatures may go up to 42 to 45 degrees Celsius, and in winter the minimum temperatures may be between 21 and 24 degrees Celsius. Usually summer lasts from March to July. With the advent of rainy season in July, followed by winter which lasts till the end of February.

Nagari had a population of 24,370.
Males constitute 50% of the population and females 50%.
Nagari has an average literacy rate of 69%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 77%, and female literacy is 61%.
In Nagari, 13% of the population is under 6 years of age.
Nagari being a border town has a healthy mix of Telugu, Tamil and English-speaking populace.

The town mainly is a market place for surrounding villagers to sell their agricultural produce. The Powerloom based textile industry also contributes to the towns revenue share. The Tamil dominated areas such as Nagari, Pudupet, Chintalapattadai, Ekambarakuppam and Satravada are the major textile manufacturing centres. It is the highest tax payer in the district Chittoor,in Andhra Pradesh. Their revenue mainly generated from US Exports.

The people of Nagari speak mostly Tamil and Telugu. The residents and visitors can be seen in both traditional attire like Dhoti, Lungi and Saree and modern attire.

Nagari has a few English medium schools and many Government Schools which provide primary and secondary education. There is a Government Junior College, Highschool & a Government Degree College which offers Bachelors degrees in Arts and Sciences and affiliated to Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati.

Local schools include Little Flower English Medium School, Vashishta Vidhyalaya, , HICS , Saraswati Vignana Mandir and Z.P.High School.

Sri DESAMMA Vari Temple is a famous temple in Nagari. Divotees visit the temple on Tuesdays and Wednesdays to worship the goddess.

There is a Siva temple which is pretty old and the popular worship place,temple is crowded on Mondays.

Perumal Temple is also a very old temple, which is renovated recently & now being maintained by TTD (Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanams). The presiding deity is Kariyamanikyaswami with his consorts Bhoo Devi and Sridevi.

Another old temple in Nagari is Veerabhadra Swami temple in the intersection of Beri veedhi & main road.

Some new temples constructed a few years back are Om Sakthi Temple at the junction of main road & bypass road towards mandapam, two Hanuman Temples near Keelapattu one is The Tirupathi Chennai Buy - Pass It's constructed 1995 by Mr. Munikrishnaiah. He was a great Divotee of Lord Hanuma. The Pilgrim was opened by Mr. Chiranjeevi who is the very mass Actor of Andhra Pradesh. He all so a great Divotee of Hanuma. Another Hanuman Temple is Situated at the Kills of Nagari Mandal. It also a part of Keelapattu Nagari Municipality. This Hanuman Temple is Very old one. Know budy Knows when the temple was started and also by whom. Some body says Its gods gift of this place people. Because it's create by itself it is very precious and powerful temple. In Chinthalapattedai and Mandapam (though not a big temple) is also considered a sacred place where the Kondachuttu festival is performed every year after Sankranthi .Another new templte constructed near Nathamkandriga village,near Nagari Rly station, temple name Vembagi amman and veeranjaneya temple it is situated in Maruthi hills.

Nearby Nagari is Bhugga Agraharam which has a very old Shiva temple on the banks of Kusasthali River.

There is a powerful goddess in the village m.agaram named ANKALAPARAMESWARI TEMPLE 16 km from nagari towards the Tamil Nadu. And near by Nagari In 3 km Distance There is village called Terani, and its very famous For ELLAMMA Temple and its very precious and powerful temple.

One Anuman temple and Saraswathi is there in Gundraja kuppam hills

Nagari is an assembly constituency in Andhra Pradesh. There are 1,76,873 registered voters in Nagari constituency in 1999 elections.
