[edit] Other records

Won gold medals at the Asian Games football tournaments in 1966 and 1970. Qualified for Football at the 1972 Summer Olympics but lost in the Group (pool) play. Still South East Asia region's most successful team in Asian football but the glory days of the 1960s are long behind the now-struggling Asian nation. The lack of success must, at least in part, be attributed to the nation's long-running economic crisis.

Recent Achievements

  • 2006 Merdeka Cup Champion
  • 2007 Merdeka Cup Runner-up
  • 2007 South East Asian Games Football Finalists
