Mr. Stubbs and 'The Last Ball.'

Mr. Stubbs was a range of collectible figures of an Edwardian era gentleman in a variety of contemporary sporting and social costumes. Sculpted by Dennis Fairweather and produced by Cavalcade Collectibles of Galashiels in Selkirkshire in Scotland during the 1990s, the character was discontinued shortly afterwards.

[edit] From birth to teens

The character Mr. Stubbs was described by his creators as being 'Edward "Teddy" Stubbs (who) entered the world in 1865 via Walthamstow, East London, and (who) embarked on a childhood that, with hindsight, was to prove remarkable. He behaved himself. His teens, however, revealed the true Mr. Stubbs - that of a man born to pursue pleasure... whether it took the shape of football, fishing, drinking... or, most notably, women. A steady job? Where was the future in that when he planned to be a playboy of the century?'

[edit] In to adulthood

'In his twenties, Mr. Stubbs set himself up as a jobbing builder - and met his royal namesake, and personal hero, Edward, Prince of Wales. The latter event awakened even greater aspirations in our "Teddy" - and prompted an inspired business decision: he married the daughter of a local landowner who, as well as giving him four children, produced several acres of prime building land. "Teddy" was thereafter free to enjoy his life and loves - and his wife to manage as best she could!'
