Mountain View High School is a high school in Mesa, Arizona. It was established in 1976. It is known for its numerous athletic and academic accomplishments. The school's mascot is a Toro. [edit] Athletics Mountain View has been placed on Sports Illustrated's Top 25 High School Athletic Programs in the Nation list. "Though the school hasn't been around for long, Mountain View has quickly established itself as king of the hill in Arizona. In the last decade the Toros have produced scores of top athletes, including Todd Heap and John Beck (Baltimore Ravens) and Shea Hillenbrand (Toronto Blue Jays). More stars are on the horizon: Mountain View has had 15 scholarship athletes in each of the last two years. Criteria for winning: "Winning schools must not only attain a high overall excellence score based on achievement in music, speech and athletics, but also maintain high academic standards and overall student participation in athletics and other activities."[2]
- Mountain View was listed as the Arizona 2007 winner of the Siemen's Foundation top Advanced Placement programs.[3]
- Arizona Interscholastic Association Scholar Athletes Award for 3.5 or higher grade point average among student athletes.
- Hendrickson Award - AIA's top award for top interscholastic programs in 5A competition.

- "In addition to the school's many academic achievements, including placing fourth nationally in Academic Decathlon, Mountain View won several state championships in 2006-07. - In the 1997-98 school year, Mountain View became the first Arizona high school ever to win state championships in football, boys basketball, girls basketball, and baseball in the same school year.
- Out of the Fifty states, Sports Illustrated's website lists Mountain View as the top high school in Arizona on the basis of excellence in athletics.[4]
- The 1983 Championship Football Team(14-0) tied the state record with the former Phoenix Union High School for shutouts in a season with 7. It was also only the Second team in Mesa District History with an unbeaten season.
- The Boys Varsity Basketball Team became the first team since Phoenix Union High School to win 3 Consecutive Championships at the highest level.
- The Toro Marching Band has been awarded the rating "superior with distinction" in 2006 as well as "superior" numerous times. In 2006, the band was invited to march in the St. Patrick's Day parade in Ireland. 2004-2005 Performed at the 2005 Nokia Sugar Bowl in New Orleans. 2002-2003 Performed for President George W. Bush, 10-Day Tour of China. In 2008, the band is scheduled to play at the Gator Bowl in Jacksonville, FL. In 2009, the band is scheduled to play at the Fiesta Bowl in Tempe, Arizona.
