Monsignor Farrell High School is a Catholic, parochial secondary school located at 2900 Amboy Road in the Oakwood section of Staten Island, New York. Opened in 1961, the school was named in honor of Monsignor Joseph Farrell, a prominent Catholic priest, as well as a religious, political and community leader on Staten Island.

For the 2008–2009 academic year, the principal is Monsignor John Paddack, who has held the position since 2002. The assistant principal is Mr. Larry Musanti. The Athletic Director is Mr. Lou Baldassano. The faculty consists of both clergymen and lay staff.

The school motto of Vir Fidelis, translated from the Latin, means "faithful man". All Farrell Men strive to spiritually, academically and socially uphold the great traditions as well as the legacy of virtue that has preceded them.

Each year, over 1,000 freshman hopefuls apply to Monsignor Farrell, with 300 to 350 are accepted. Current enrollment is near the 1,200 mark.^[1]

The football team, is a perennial play-off and championship contender and has won multiple CHSFL Titles, although in recent years the team has been a bit lackluster. Farrell's most dominant years the 1970's came before they were a member of the CHSFL.^{[citation needed]} The track team has produced 25 All-Americans in the last three years.^{[citation needed]} The Track Team has won City titles in 1989, 2006 and 2007 and was named as a "Nike Top 20 Team USA" in 2006 and 2007.^{[citation needed]} The basketball team has had the distinction of winning back to back SIHSL in 2005 and 2006.^{[citation needed]} Also, the 2006 baseball team enjoyed a 18 game winning streak.^{[citation needed]} The 2006 baseball team outscored opponents 176-22 throughout the season and was nationally ranked by USA today.^{[citation needed]}

The school's marching band received the 8th Place at the 2008 United States Scholastic Band Association National Championships, competing as a Group II band at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland on November 7, 2008.^[3] The 2008 Field Show "The Planets" was based on the symphony of the same name by Gustav Holst . The Band is also the 2008 USSBA Group 2 New York State Champions. In the 2009 USSBA season the band is performing the field show entitled "Cathedral Windows", adapted from David Holsinger's work Ballet Exaltare The band is currently undefeated in regular season competition and will be competing in the USSBA National Championships on November 6 at the Unites States Naval Academy as a Group II Open band.
