Mills Edwin Godwin High School is located in The West End of Henrico County, Virginia. The school, operated by Henrico County Public Schools, was named in honor of Mills E. Godwin Jr. (1914–1999) who was Governor of Virginia for two terms. The school mascot is the Eagle. Godwin High School opened in 1980. There are over 2,000 students in the student body. Douglas S. Freeman High School is Godwin's biggest rival.
[edit] NewspaperThe school newspaper is called the Eagles' Eyrie and is largely student-run. Issues are released every three weeks. [edit] Club AchievementsMills E. Godwin High School is the founder of the Junior Zookeepers of America. The Junior Zookeepers of America was started in the Fall of 2008 by five founding members. The club has helped raise zoological and ecological awareness in the high school as well as to the campuses of many universities. The club has recently been established at VCU, Virginia Tech, Radford, and JMU by founding members of the JZA chapter of Mills E. Godwin. [edit] BandThe Mills E.
