[edit] BiographyMilčo Mančevski (Macedonian: Милчо Манчевски, He studied at the Faculty of Philosophy at the Ss. Cyril and Methodius University of Skopje (Archaeology and Art History) and graduated at the College of Mass Communication and Media Arts at the Southern Illinois University (Department of Cinema and Photography). Mančevski has wrote and directed the feature films Before the Rain (1994), Dust (2001) and Shadows (2007) and over 50 short forms (experimental films, documentaries, commercials and music videos). He has published fiction, essays and op-ed pieces in New American Writing, La Repubblica, Corriere Della Sera, Sineast, The Guardian, Suddeutsche Zeitung, etc. He authored a small book of fiction titled The Ghost of My Mother and a book of photographs Street shown in Macedonia (1999), Sweden (1999), Croatia (2000), Italy (2000), Greece (2001), France (2001), Slovenia (2006). He has lectured at a number of universities, cinematheques, art museums and art institutes all over the world. Mančevski currently resides in New York City where he teaches directing at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts (Graduate Film program). [edit] Projects/AwardsMančevski won MTV Award for Best Rap Video for "Tennessee" and Award for Best experimental film (for "1.73"). Before the Rain won Golden Lion for Best Film at the Venice Film Festival (1994) and an Academy-Award nomination for Best Foreign Language Film (1995). Before the Rain has been listed in the New York Times' book Best 1000 Movies Ever Made. Dust (2001), Mančevski's second feature film, was the opening-night film of the Venice Film Festival. In 2009, Mančevski directed Macedonia Timeless and Macedonia Timeless Temples, both videos promoting the Republic of Macedonia as an attractive tourist destination. Macedonia Timeless in May, 2009 won the Award for Best Commercial spot at the International Festival for Tourist films in Plock, Poland and the same year in September won the Award "Blue Danube" for Best Cultural Tourist Film at the International Festival of Tourist and Ecology Films - "SILAFEST", Serbia.
