Mike Morris (born July 14, 1983) is an American professional ice hockey forward. He was drafted in the first round, twenty-seventh overall, of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft by the San Jose Sharks. Mike was a star player at national prep hockey powerhouse St. Sebastian’s, Needham, MA where he played and won the ISL Championship and the New England Prep school championship. In 2002–03, this school produced, (4) NHL draft picks, in one class, the most ever from a single secondary school. Overlooked because of his size by many of the top college programs, Mike stayed local to play in Hockey East on a full scholarship to Northeastern University in Boston to play forward. He completed his junior year 04–05 at Northeastern University and opted to sit out his senior season 05–06, taking 9 months off, he obtained an approved NCAA medical leave eligibility waiver. He returned as co-captain for the 06–07 season. He played in only 20 games in his senior year yet was always a legitimate offensive threat on the ice. Despite this he wound up 3rd on the team in pts 7–11–18. He spent the 07–08 campaign playing for the Worcester Ice Sharks (AHL) where he played in 9 (1–1–2) games. He remains the only first round NHL draft pick ever to attend Northeastern. [edit] External links
