Michael J. Moncrief is the current mayor of Fort Worth, Texas. Moncrief was first elected to the Texas Legislature in 1971 serving for two years. He later became a judge in Tarrant County and served as a State Senator from the 12th district as a Democrat. On May 3, 2003, Moncrief was elected mayor in a non-partisan race replacing outgoing mayor Kenneth Barr. He was re-elected in May 2009 with 70% of the vote. [1] Moncrief is an alumnus of Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas, where he served as the first Texan Rider, the mascot of Tarleton State.
