Michael C. Brantley (born May 15, 1987 in Bellevue, Washington) is a Major League Baseball outfielder for the Cleveland Indians. He was drafted by Milwaukee in the 7th round of the 2005 amateur entry draft. In 2005 he played for their Rookie league Helena Brewers and Arizona Brewers. He was promoted to the Class A West Virginia Power in 2006. In 2007, Brantley split his time between West Virginia and the Double-A Huntsville Stars where he spent the entire 2008 season. His father, Mickey Brantley, played in the MLB for four seasons with the Seattle Mariners and is now the hitting coach of the Toronto Blue Jays. On October 3, 2008 Brantley was traded to the Cleveland Indians to complete the CC Sabathia trade. He attended Indians spring training in 2009 but was sent to Minor League camp on March 24, 2009.[1] After spending the 2009 season with the Columbus Clippers, Brantley was called up to the Indians on September 1, 2009.
