Matthew Harley "Matt" Priddis (born 21 March 1985) is an Australian rules footballer currently listed with the West Coast Eagles in the Australian Football League (AFL). Prior to being drafted, he played for the Subiaco Football Club in the West Australian Football League (WAFL), and won the Sandover Medal as the best player in the league in 2006.
Priddis, known for his curly dreadlock-like blond hair, is a midfielder. He joined the club on the back of an excellent season for the Subiaco Football Club in the West Australian Football League (WAFL). Priddis won the best and fairest for the Subiaco Football Club, finished fifth in the Sandover Medal and was awarded the Simpson Medal for his efforts for Western Australia against Queensland. Originally recruited to the rookie list, Priddis was elevated to the senior list in 2006 AFL season.
Matthew Priddis made his dbut in the no. 45 jersey against Geelong in round 10 of the 2006 AFL Season. He played again that season against Port Adelaide in round 12, but didn't play for the West Coast Eagles again until round 1, 2007, against the Sydney Swans. So far he has played in all of the games for 2007.
In 2006, he took home the highest individual honour in WAFL football, the Sandover Medal. His tally of 58 votes was a record for the highest number of votes since 54321 voting was introduced.
Priddis currently wears the #11 guernsey for the Eagles, and enjoyed one of his best games in round 6, 2007 against the Western Bulldogs, a game in which Priddis kicked 3 goals and had 26 possessions while playing on Scott West
He reached a career high 45 disposals, 30 handballs, 15 kicks, 5 marks and 3 tackles in round 14, 2008 against Hawthorn. His 30 handpasses was then the highest tally ever recorded (recorded since 1987), until Gary Ablett, Jr. broke the record the following season.[1]
