Matthew Olson Guerrier (born August 2, 1978, in Cleveland, Ohio) is a Major League Baseball relief pitcher, for the Minnesota Twins. He attended college at Kent State University, and made his major league debut on June 17, 2004.
[edit] Pitching styleGuerrier throws four quality pitches. He throws a good fastball that sits 90-94. He throws a tight slider that sits in the mid 80s. He throws 2 different 12-6 curves, a big breaker that sits in the low 70s and a tight biting hook that sits 76-79. He also throws a quality changeup. Because he throws four pitches and commands all of them very well, Guerrier is versatile and can pitch out of the pen or start if needed.[citation needed] [edit] 2008 seasonSince the Minnesota Twins lost primary setup pitcher Pat Neshek to injury early in the season, Guerrier took over part of that role for a short time. He pitched poorly in the second half, however, sporting an 8.88 ERA. In 76.3 innings, he was 6-9 with a 5.19 ERA.[1] [edit] References[edit] External links
