[edit] Life and career

Massimo is the fourth son of Angelo Moratti, who was owner and president during Inter's golden age from 1955 to 1968. He has five children. It has long been Massimo's ambition to restore Inter to the heights they once knew under his father. He has won one UEFA Cup (1998), four Scudetti/Serie A (2006, 2007, 2008, 2009), two Coppa Italia (2005, 2006), and three Supercoppa Italiana (2005, 2006, 2008).

However, Inter has since clinched the 2006-07, 2007-08, and 2008-09 Serie A titles, with an impressive run of 17 consecutive victories, a record that stands among other top European league competitions.

Moratti has spent around €300 million in the transfer market, exceeded only by Roman Abramovich of Chelsea. There have been nine coaches under his ownership, the last coach being Roberto Mancini, who was fired from his post in late May 2008 after winning three consecutive domestic championships. [1] In July 1999, Moratti sanctioned a then world-record €48 million purchase of striker Christian Vieri and has since purchased numerous superstars, including Ronaldo, Maicon, Adriano, Hernán Crespo, Roberto Baggio, Zlatan Ibrahimović, Luís Figo, Patrick Vieira, Samuel Eto'o and Juan Sebastián Verón.
