[edit] Career

Tyler started his career at Peterborough United, progressing from the youth team in 1994. His first senior game came on 1 October 1996 in a 1-1 draw away to Plymouth Argyle.

In the 1996–97 season, he was loaned out to then Isthmian League Premier Division team Yeovil Town, making four appearances.

He was included in the England Under-20 squad for the 1997 FIFA World Youth Championship.

Tyler gradually lost his first-team place at Peterborough to Joe Lewis starting from the 2007–08 season, eventually becoming third choice goalkeeper behind James McKeown. In January 2008, he was signed on loan by Hull City after City's Matt Duke underwent an operation to remove a testicular tumour.[2]

He signed an emergency loan deal with Watford in September 2008 to aid in their goalkeeping injury crisis. Tyler signed a one month loan deal with League Two side Bury in January 2009, playing in 11 games, of which 7 resulted in wins, and 1 resulting in a loss.

Over the course of 15 years at London Road, Tyler made 483 appearances in all competitions. His loyal service to Peterborough resulted in a testimonial match organised by the club against Liverpool on 21 July 2007, in a game watched by over 10,000 fans.

On 15 June 2009, Tyler had his contract with Peterborough cancelled by mutual consent. He signed a 2-year contract with Luton Town two days later.[3]
