Manurewa is a New Zealand Parliamentary electorate.

It is currently held by George Hawkins MP[1].

Contents

[edit] Population Centres

The electorate includes the following population centres:

Manurewa stretches north from the southern Auckland suburb of Manukau Central, and south to Wattle Downs. Main suburbs include Clendon Park and Manurewa. Electoral changes took place in 2002 with former Manurewa population areas going to Clevedon and Manukau East.

[edit] History

Manurewa is generally regarded as a safe Labour seat.

Boundary changes for the 2008 general election has made Manurewa even safer for Labour, although some party loyalists were reportedly upset that this had the effect of making the neighbouring seat of Papakura less marginal and more inclined towards National, especially as Manurewa had always been safe for Labour.
