Mamadou Samassa (born 1 May 1986 in Montfermeil, Paris) is a French football (soccer) player of Malian descent who plays as a forward for French Ligue 1 club Olympique Marseille.
[edit] Career
Born in Montfermeil, a suburb of Paris, Samassa began his career as a youth with Le Mans UC72, making his Ligue 1 debut as a 20-year-old on the opening day of the 2006-07 season. Le Mans won the game against Ligue 1 rivals OGC Nice 1-0 and Samassa played the full 90 minutes. He claimed his first goal in the season's third match, against Valenciennes FC.
On the 26 August 2008, Mamadou completed a move to mid table Marseille.[1]
Despite being born to Malian parents, Samassa chose originally to represent France at international level. He has made six appearances for the Under-21 side, but has recently declared his intentions to represent Mali at the senior level.[2]
