The Makati Science High School (Makati Science or MakSci) is a special public secondary school in Makati City that has a special science and technology curriculum. [1] The Makati Science is located at Osias cor. Palma and Gabaldon Sts., Brgy. Poblacion 1200 City of Makati, Metropolitan Manila, Philippines.
[edit] HistoryJejomar Cabauatan Binay, then officer in charge of the then Municipality of Makati, established the Makati West High School on June 16, 1986, at Mayapis Street in San Antonio Village to serve the elementary school graduates of barangays La Paz, Palanan, Pio del Pilar, San Antonio, and Francisco Benitez. On August 21, 1989, the Makati West was placed under the supervision of the then Department of Education, Culture, and Sports (DECS, now the Department of Education or DepEd) through the efforts of Mrs Teodora A Tongko, then the school's principal. In 1994, Makati West was renamed the Makati Science High School and was allowed to implement its Special Science and Technology Curriculum by Director Esperanza Orlina, DECS-National Capital Region Director IV. Three years later, on January 25, 1997, the Makati Science moved from Mayapis Street to its new buildings at Osias Street in Barangay Poblacion. [edit] InformationMakati Science High School students receive a monthly stipend of PhP750, given by the City Government of Makati. The school has two student publications: Ang Kadluan and The Makati Science Vision[12]. The Makati Science Vision is one of the best school papers in the Philippines. Makati Science High School Batch 1999 recently conducted a reunion celebrating their 10th year on May 30, 2009 at Mess Hall in Taguig. The batch also launched their own site, e-maksci99.
