[edit] CONCACAF Champions League qualificationBoth MLS Cup participants are guaranteed berths in the CONCACAF Champions League. The Columbus Crew, as MLS Cup champions, are guaranteed to be seeded directly into the Group Stage. The New York Red Bulls, as MLS Cup runners-up, will have to compete in the Preliminary Round. Also, because the Crew were already qualified as MLS Supporters' Shield winners, the Houston Dynamo have also qualified as the highest overall finishing team not already qualified, and they will be seeded along with Columbus directly into the Group Stage.
