Ludwig Heimrath, Jr. (born September 9, 1956 in Scarborough, Ontario, Canada) started 30 CART races between 1984 and 1989. He was winless in 30 starts. Heimrath also started three Indy 500 races with a best finish of 13th in the 1989 Indianapolis 500. His career started in karts, moved up through sports cars and then, in the mid-1980s, into Super Vee, an open-wheel formula based on water-cooled Volkswagen powerplants. His performance in Super Vees earned a tryout with the Truesports Indianapolis car team at Mid-Ohio. He is married to Kathy Rude, the first woman to win a major international sports car race , a GTU class win at 24 Hours of Daytona in 1982 with Lee Mueller and Allan Moffat.
