Jean Ludovic Butelle (born April 3, 1983 in Reims) is a French footballer who is currently playing for Lille OSC, as a goalkeeper. [edit] Club careerButelle began his career at FC Metz, in 2001–02's French top flight, appearing in six matches. He became a regular the next two seasons, after which he was signed by Valencia CF in July 2004, seen as a possible replacement for aging Andrés Palop and Santiago Cañizares.[1] Butelle also served a six-month loan at Hércules CF in Alicante for the rest of his first season. From 2005–07, with Palop departed, Butelle eventually became backup, replacing another veteran, Juan Luis Mora. On 29 November, 2006, after making his Spanish league debut on March 19, in a 2–1 loss at Racing de Santander, his sole in that campaign, he extended his contract from 2009 to 2012.[2] In 2007–08, Butelle was again loaned, this time to Real Valladolid and, after starting the season as first-choice, he eventually lost the battle with youngster Sergio Asenjo (18) and veteran Alberto (38). After considering a return to France for the remainder of the season, he eventually stayed until his loan expired. However, Butelle would be loaned once more for 2008–09, now to French top flight outfit Lille OSC. At the season's close, the move was made permanent. [edit] References[edit] External links
