Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English, first published by Longman in 1978. The dictionary is available in various formats: paper with a bundled DVD-Rom or freely online. The LDOCE is an Advanced Learner's English dictionary, providing definitions by using a restricted vocabulary, helping non native English speakers to get meanings easily. The free LDOCE online has just been updated in its layout and released on the 25th of August 2008. The website offers search with spelling feature, definition, collocations, many examples and pictures.
