Mo fights back.

Maureen "Little Mo" Mitchell (née Slater; previously Morgan) is a fictional character from the popular BBC soap opera EastEnders, played by Kacey Ainsworth.

Named after her loud, wayward grandmother, Little Mo couldn't have been more opposite. She was a very 'mousy' character, often shy, and immensely kind-hearted despite all the pain she went through.

[edit] Life with Trevor Morgan

The first love of Little Mo's life was Trevor Morgan. She was a victim of his domestic violence and put up with his severe mood swings. Unfortunately he used physical and emotional violence to control her. He manipulated her until her mind was so fragile, she couldn't bring herself to leave. He would always turn on the charm after beating her so she was convinced that he loved her and she loved him.

Trevor isolated her from her family, who despised him. He raped her on the bathroom floor after discovering the hat she planned to wear to Lynne's wedding, despite him forbidding her to go. Up to then, Mo had agreed that they would try for a baby but this sent her to the chemist for the morning-after pill and went back on the pill.

On Christmas Day, Trevor shoved Mo's face in her Christmas dinner and made her eat it off the floor, a scene which attracted huge controversy and complaints from viewers.

On New Year's Eve, timid 'doormat' Little Mo attacked Trevor, hitting him repeatedly with an iron when he attacked her. She thought he was dead but when she and her sisters returned to the Fowler house, he had gone. Mo was prosecuted and imprisoned for attempted murder but released after her retrial collapsed as Trevor had done a deal with the Slaters. Kat wouldn't press charges for assault if he didn't testify against Mo.

Trevor terrorised Mo after she moved on and planned to divorce him, holding her and his infant son hostage in the Slater house, which accidentally caught fire. Fireman Tom Banks saved Mo and baby Sean. When he went back for Trevor, they died in an explosion.

[edit] Life with Billy Mitchell

Billy and Little Mo shared a horrifying past which they'd rather forget. Mo was battered, raped, imprisoned and held hostage by her first husband. Billy, on the other hand, was neglected as a child and cruelly beaten by his carers in a children's home, which prompted him to behave the same way, towards his nephew, Jamie, although his character is now reformed.

Billy and Mo became friends while she was married to Trevor and they got together after realising they loved each other after Mo was released from prison. Trevor did his best to wreck things but Billy proposed to Mo by spelling out 'MARRY ME' in alphabet macaroni. She accepted. After Trevor's demise, the pair married on Christmas Day 2002.

Shortly before their first wedding anniversary, her friend and Charlie's darts-playing buddy, Graham Foster, raped her in The Queen Vic one night after hours. She told her family, and her dad, Charlie, attacked him. As Graham hadn't taken precautions, Mo was tested for STIs after she reported him to the police and all tests came back clear, except one. Mo was pregnant. Billy and her family were shocked and disgusted when she refused to abort the child, insisting that the baby was innocent and hadn't asked to come into the world this way. She and Billy split up, and Mo left the Square. She returned for Graham's trial and told Billy that she named her son Frederick William (Freddie for short), as she wanted to name him after good men. Following Graham's conviction, she and Billy gave their marriage another go, but Billy struggled to bond with Freddie as his own so they divorced but remained very good friends.

[edit] Life after Billy

Following her split from Billy, Little Mo became a single mother to Freddie. She fell in love with Alfie Moon, estranged husband of her sister Kat Moon. This relationship failed when Little Mo discovered Alfie was secretly dating Kat behind her back. Alfie and Kat got back together and left the Square to start a new life.

Since February 2006, it was observed Mo was having difficulty caring for her child. Mo reported Freddie was teething but refused to medicate him, meaning she had trouble getting him to sleep. Freddie sustained a head wound from a fight with Bobby Beale and this meant a health visitor visited Mo and Freddie. Little Mo misinterpreted this as questioning her parenting ability and was extremely hostile. Mo constantly took Freddie to see Dr. Oliver Cousins, who later said he could no longer be her GP because he was interested in her romantically. The pair started dating in April 2006.

[edit] Freddie's injury and Dr. Cousins

At the end of April 2006, Mo and Billy received their divorce papers. Two days later, Mo and Oliver were due to go away for a night in Brighton, but after a car crash caused by Deano Wicks and Carly Wicks, she hesitated and told Oliver she couldn't leave Freddie. She went home but found him unconscious. Freddie was rushed to hospital, and doctors discovered a head injury. Social Services then got involved, suspecting Mo of causing Freddie's injury.

Her anger at Social Services made her realise Ben Mitchell was responsible. She confronted Ben at the Vic and shook him violently. The Mitchell clan warned Mo to stay away from Ben and she nearly lost her job at the Vic. However, her father persuaded Peggy not to fire her. On May 8 2006, Mo returned to the Vic but had to listen to Phil and Grant's constant warnings. Eventually Ben saw her and ran away so Peggy fired her. She tried to convince everyone that Ben was responsible for Freddie's injury. Her hope and trust in her father was dashed when he did not support her. Soon Charlie believed her and begged her forgiveness for doubting her.

After extensive tests at the hospital, the doctors discovered Freddie had a low platelet count, due to an infection. This meant any minor injury could cause serious injuries as his blood wasn't clotting properly. Mo was cleared of harming her son but despite being cleared by the hospital, Social Services and the police, local residents still believed she was responsible. This was confirmed when Ian Beale was reluctant to let her hold Bobby. Knowing people would always suspect her, she decided to leave.

Feeling guilty, Ben Mitchell finally confessed to Phil that he had hit Freddie whilst they were playing horsey as Freddie had pulled at his hearing aid. Mo was unsure about what to do but took the blame herself. Phil tried threatening Mo to keep quiet but she told him she was quite capable of making up her own mind. Oliver tried to convince her to report Ben but she refused. This led to a nasty scene in the Vic when Peggy Mitchell called Mo a child beater. Oliver defended Mo and told everyone about Ben's confession to Phil and Mo but Mo was angry with him for not respecting her decision.

[edit] Leaving Walford

Oliver got drunk and Dawn had to help him home, Stacey saw this but did not tell Mo. Oliver realised just how much he loves Mo and proposed to her. Just as it seemed everything would be fine, Stacey told Mo that she saw Oliver with Dawn in the Vic on May 26, 2006. Mo was heartbroken and ended up pushing Oliver so hard that he collapsed. He then ended their relationship.

Mo prepared to leave for Barnstaple and just as she reached the station, Oliver, who was also about to leave for Leeds, tried to convince her one last time that they could be together. Mo made her choice and decided not to join him. She said that all her life she was doing what she was told and she wanted to break away from being "Little" Mo. She gave Oliver one last kiss and left, after saying how she would keep in touch and visit him in Leeds. As she left Walford, she looked at Freddie and said, "It's just you and me now," with a smile on her face.

She was mentioned in July 2008, when Stacey decided to visit to calm her brother Sean down but the visit was postponed when Sean refused to go.
