The Brazilian Federal District (DF) comprises one mesoregion, also named Distrito Federal. It in turn comprises one microregion named Brasília. Unlike other Federative Units in Brazil, the Distrito Federal has no municipalities (FederalConstitution, articles 18 and 32); instead, it is divided into administrative regions:
