This is a list of characters in the strategy RPG Luminous Arc, and its sequel, Luminous Arc 2.

[edit] Garden Children
All of the current members of the Garden Children are orphans who were taken in by the church at a young age and taught to follow the Luminous Verses.
Alph was raised in the Ever Garden, has a strong sense of justice and wants to be a great knight. He cares greatly for his brother and friends, and idolizes Heath. Alph has a strange bond with Lucia and cares for her deeply. Introduced in chapter 1.
Alph (Rym) is Alph reborn as Lucia's Rym, the fated kinship between a witch and dragon. He pledges to protect the planet and fight alongside Lucia.
Theo is Alph's brother and another member of the Ever Garden. A bit timid, though he dearly loves his older brother, and follows him everywhere. Theo fights with a bow, and loves eggs. Introduced in chapter 1.
Leon is the Ever Garden's big brother. He's proud of his father, "The Lion King", who died in battle. He has a hit with the ladies and is a strong ally. Leon calls himself "God of Gourmet" because of his extensive knowledge of local specialty food items. Introduced in chapter 1.
Cecille is a devout priestess who lives at the Ever Garden. She's a big sister to the others, and is a pretty easy-going person. In battle, she provides healing support. Introduced in chapter 1.
Heath is an Arc Knight that serves the Luminous Church. Heath is in charge of training the Ever Garden members. Heath is also known as the "Cleansing Flame". Introduced in chapter 1
Lucia (Maid) is a maid that comes to serve at the Ever Garden. She likes to order others around, but doesn't take orders well. Her cooking skills are good, buts hates doing the dishes. Seen in chapters 2-4.
Saki is a member of the Ever Garden, Saki is a ninja who specializes in gathering intelligence. She is efficient and business-like, but more cheerful around her best friend, Cecille. Introduced in chapter 6.
Nikolai left the Ever Garden to pursue his Witch research. Though he is intelligent, he is far more of a Witch otaku than he is a Witch scholar. He constantly writes to Cecille but never got a letter in return. Introduced in chapter 7.
[edit] Luminous Order
Clergy and other important figures in the Luminous Church.
Andre is an important member of the Luminous Church, being Cardinal Kingston's right hand man and leader of the Zephyroth knights. Andre has a short temper and is somewhat of a bully, and has a habit of boasting about his huge muscles. About halfway through the plot, Andre reveals that he had stolen the legendary Regulus Heart sword from the previous leader of the Zephyroth Knights: Leon's father. Andre, however, was unable to use this sword. Despite this secret, Andre is also known as the Master of the Western Wind due to his position.
Cardinal Kingston is the Cardinal of the Luminous Church and wields the real power of the church's influence. As the Cardinal, Kingston assists Grand Cardinal Johannes in his 'holy' duties. His plots escalate from creating an artificial "Steel Witch" and destroying the real Witches, to creating a machine that supposedly would make him able to control the power of God.
God Zehaal is the god the Luminous Church worships, and the one who supposedly sealed the witches and dragons away long ago. He is referred to as "God", and is the final boss of the game.
Grand Cardinal Johannes is the Grand Cardinal of the Luminous order appointed by the previous Grand Cardinal. Johannes is 13 years old and is doubted by some, but is highly respected by most of the people. Johannes is special to the Luminous faith because he has 'the fingerprint' which means he is the vessel of God.

Living with the Witches in their village are two creatures that resemble dugong and two apprentice Witches. These members of the group focus on studying and using Vitae, stones that have absorbed small amounts of Rune. The sage Payan-Payan is able to appraise Vitae, while his student Pollon-Pollon is able to create alloys for use in imbuing.
Lucia is the Dawn Witch, the one who had a fated kinship with Alph. She does not show her true feelings. Instead, she masks her emotions by speaking bluntly. She hates doing dishes. Introduced in chapter 2
Mel The Torrent Witch has a heart like a flowing stream. She easily accepts anything much like a river's current. However, she's easily affected by these things. Introduced in chapter 4
Vivi is known as the Sky Witch. Vivi is cheerful like a cloud, but can be lazy and moody. She prefers to live life as she pleases. She is friends with the forest animals. Introduced in chapter 10
Mavi is the Nature Witch and believes that magic strength is tied to physical strength. She is very upright and moral, she opposes Vanessa's violent methods. Introduced in chapter 9
Claire is the Thunder Witch and leader of the 7 Witches. Always flounders over decisions. She seeks to solve disputes peacefully, to avoid damaging the planet. introduced in chapter 12
Vanessa is the Witch of Immolation. She is like fire: strong and impulsive. She believes any matter can be resolved by power. She has two pet monsters named Gul and Gal. Introduced in chapter 4
Cecille (Twilight Witch) Cecille's true form, the Witch who wields the power of the dark. To prepare for battle against God, she sealed off her memories and powers when she left the Forest. This seal was broken by the Mother Lapis shortly before it was destroyed, to allow the witches to gain their ultimate Synergy. Introduced in chapter 18

- Roland (ロラン, Roran?) Voiced by: Sōichirō Hoshi
- Roland is the protagonist of the story. Along with his brother who is of similar age, he aims to become a knight. He spends his days training under his father as an apprentice, who was originally the captain of the knights. After suddenly having the Runic Engine merged in his hands, he is cast into the midst of the war as a Rune Knight. He has the ability to "engage" with witches and perform elemental FDs. In order to save Althea, he became a Master by taking the trial of (half of) the Mother Lapis.
- Althea (アルティ, Aruti?) Voiced by: Emiri Katō
- An apprentice fire witch studying under Dia. Under her orders, she goes to deliver a letter to Queen Sophia, but runs into Roland on the way. Throughout the game she is told he is not a real witch due to her mysterious powers. She develop feelings for Roland later in the game. It is confirmed that her age is 16 years old. She is actually a beast fiend created by the evil mage queen Elicia.
- Rasche (ラッシュ, Rasshu?)
- Roland's older brother. He has a distrust for witches, but he decides to work with them. He often talks too much, and usually does not respect his father, so he gets beaten by him often.
- Rina (リーナ, Rīna?) Voiced by: Fukui Yukari (Japanese), Lauren Landa (English)
- A competent apprentice archer. Her parents died in a raging black fire, so she lives with her older brother Steiner. This also caused her fear of fire. She fears that she is weak but is actually competent. She is also great friends with Roland and becomes a good friend of Althea.
- Pip (フィル, Firu?) Voiced by: Ryōko Shiraishi
- Pop's younger twin brother. He has the opposite personality to her. He prefers To call Roland, "Master Roland". He treats everyone with great respect. Due to this, he is exploited by her sister to do her chores. His name is actually Phillip.
- Kaph (キャパ, Kyapa?)
- The Chief editor and Investigator of a magazine called, "B-witched". He is fascinated by Witches and says he will follow then anywhere (to their dismay). He always carries a camera and a guitar, which is actually a weapon. He is also an amazing artist.

- Dia (ディア?)
- The Brilliant Witch, also the interim leader of the Rev Magic Association. Earned the title due to both her Light Magic mastery, and her strong personality. Despite her position, she often acts without thinking, and tends to contradict herself. She refers to Roland as "Kid", Rasche as "Other kid" and Rina as "Other other kid". Dia also loves sweets.
- Fatima (ファティマ, Fatima?) Voiced by: Asami Imai (Japanese), Michelle Ruff (English)
- The Shadow Frost Witch. She is the one who is supposedly keeping the witch conflict, but her intentions are unknown.
- Luna (ルナ, Runa?) Voiced by: Xanthe Huynh
- The Tide Witch. As her title suggests, her mood is always changing. She is often thirsty for "Really good water". However, she cares a lot for her friends and when they are feeling down she tries to cheer them by offering pure water.
- Pop (ポプリ, Popuri?)
- The Verdure Witch, she is spoiled and self-centered. She happens to love crab. She treats Pip like her servant, but deep down, she really cares about him. She seems to be obsessed with crab based food. Her name is actually Potpourri. It is Confirmed her age is 12.
- Sadie (サティ, Sati?) Voiced by: Yumiko Kobayashi (Japanese), Cristina Valenzuela (English)
- The Breeze Witch, She is the only one who survived the previous Witch conflict. She tends to not treat life seriously. She is part of a race known as the Winged Ones, and looks much younger than she really is. She decided to live alone on top of a mountain because of how people treat her about her wings.
- Alice (アリス, Arisu?) & Therese (テレス, Teresu?) Voiced by: Cristina Valenzuela
- The young apprentice witches make a return in this game as secret playable characters. They arrive in Carnava from their parallel world, claiming to have come "over the rainbow." They decide to join Roland's party in search of sweets.
- Josie (ジョジィ, Jojī?)
- This mysterious feline creature uses Shadow Frost Magic. He likes to create Golems to do his bidding. He hates being called a cat, he shows high affection and loyalty to Fatima.
- Sophia (ソフィア, Sofia?) Voiced by: Rie Tanaka
- Queen of Carnava. She is very dedicated to her kingdom, so she rarely has some time to rest. When Roland is imbued with the Runic Engine, she sends him to the Magic Association to find Dia, in order to find a way to end the Witch Conflict.
- Gaston (ガストン, Gasuton?)
- Captain of the Queen's "Tusk Squad", well known because of his size.
- Steven (スタン, Sutan?)
- Former leader of a Knight squad, he is the head instructor of Carnava's Knight School. He is the father of Rasche and Roland, as well as best friends with Gaston.
- Steiner (シュタイナー, Shutainā?) Voiced by: Jun Fukuyama (Japanese), Kirk Thornton (English)
- The youngest Knight to be named a Captain, Steiner leads the Queen's "Stinger Squad". He has combat skills to match his intellect as one of the Queen's top military scientists, and fights with two swords. He considers himself Roland's rival. He also is Rina's older brother.
- Richter (リヒテル, Rihiteru?)
- Captain of the "Talon Squad" and second in command of the Queen's Knights. He is known as the strongest knight in the strongest knight squad which makes him idolized by the youth of the Kingdom (especially teenage girls).
- Karen (カレン, Karen?) Voiced by: Rie Kugimiya (Japanese), Kira Buckland (English)
- She is the naïve leader of a mysterious band of thieves known as that "Rosetta Rosso." Because of her childhood, she and her henchmen hunt witches for Lapistier(If taken the witch dies), but why is she doing this is unknown. Later, She develops a soft spot for Roland.
- Ace (エース, Ēsu?)
- Karen's henchman who always has his briefcase with him. Although he spends most of his time hitting on women, he only does this to prove to Karen how much of ladies' man he can be. He shows extreme loyalty to Karen, even to give her a foot massage. His reason of loyalty is explained Later in the game. When he is actually on duty, he gathers information, a job which he does with excellent speed.
- Moose (ドンキー, Donkī?)
- Moose is the second of Karen's stewards. He is cheerful, serious, and sensible. Because of his studies abroad, he is extremely good with non-magical technology, as is shown with his construction of the Destructobots, his pride and joy.
