There are a large amount of characters in Tokimeki Memorial. Below is a listing of all the characters from the series, starting with the first game and ending with the most recent game, Tokimeki Memorial Girls' Side 2nd Kiss. This list also includes any characters from additional games in the series such as the Drama series games or the Game Boy games which featured three additional characters.
Characters listed below are in Western name order for the Romaji (occidental spelling) version, and in Japanese name order for the Kanji version.

- He provides you with information on the girls you can date, including their phone number (so you can call them later for a date), blood type, and various things they like earning him the nickname "Info Otaku".
You'll often see him around school and is sometimes seen with several of the girls from the game, the most common being his childhood friend Yuko Asahina. His younger sister, Yumi Saotome, arrives in Kirameki High in the second year.
Like you (the player), he's trying to win, at the end of 3rd year, the heart of one of the girls. He actually can succeed in doing so (who he wins is limited only to those you've met), but it occurs very rarely, and it happens more likely if most or all the girls you know are hating you, and seeing this event tends to mean that you'll lose. It is possible though for it to happen even if you win the heart of one of the girls, but the girl he wins won't be the girl who's reached Tokimeki state with your character (in fact the girl he wins tends to be related to the girl you win, for instance if you are going after Shiori Fujisaki, he tends to win her best friend Megumi Mikihara; but it's not always consistent, as his choices are limited to those you've met); he will never fight with you for a girl, something that can happen in Tokimeki Memorial 2.
Yoshio's phone number is one of the three phone numbers you receive in the beginning of the game. The other two are Shiori Fujisaki's and Rei Ijyuin's.
Yoshio is also the only male character (prior to Tokimeki Memorial Girl's Side in which the main targets to end up with are male characters) where the main character can end up with him. In the Tokimeki no Houkago ~Ne Quiz Shiyo~ Yoshio is a winnable character though it should be noted that you don't actually end up with him. Basically you and him make a pact to both find girlfriends. Essentially this is like the "Bad Ending" from Tokimeki Memorial only with pictures added.
Yoshio is voiced by Yuji Ueda, and is notable as being the only male from the Tokimeki Memorial series to have his own music CD release prior to Tokimeki Memorial Girl's Side. Furthermore this is all the more rare since the game in which he appeared has an all female seiyuu cast (game wise) whereas the Girl's Side games are targeted at women with all the main characters being male. One possible reason for Yoshio getting a music CD is that Yuji Ueda is a popular seiyuu having done many video game and anime roles which he still continues to do. It should also be noted that Yoshio's CD is more of an album since the CD is composed of only songs and has quite a few songs on it whereas the Girl's Side character's CDs are more like singles since they each only contain one song accompanied with a couple of monologue and instrumental tracks.

- Hikari Hinomoto (陽ノ下 光) (voiced by Junko Noda) - the main heroine of the game. She was the player's best friend until he moved away when he was 8. She is kind, cheerful, and energetic.
- Kotoko Minazuki (水無月 琴子) (voiced by Mami Kosuge) - Hikari's best friend. She is an intelligent, serious person and is strongly opposed to Western influences.
- Kasumi Asō (麻生 華澄) (voiced by Misa Torii) - Hikari and the player's older sister figure when they kids. She joins Hibikino High as your home room teacher in the second year.
- Miyuki Kotobuki (寿 美幸) (voiced by Naoko Takano) - a cheerful girl with a very long streak of bad luck.
- Miho Shirayuki (白雪 美帆) (voiced by Hikari Tachibana) - a polite, sweet girl who loves frogs and fortune telling. People occasionally come to her to have their fortunes told by her.
- Kaori Yae (八重 花桜梨) (voiced by Kazusa Murai) - a quiet, sad girl one year older than the player. She is often seen on the school's rooftop alone.
- Kaedeko Sakura (佐倉 楓子) (voiced by Chiaki Maeda) - the klutzy, slightly chubby manager of the Hibikino High baseball team.
- Mei Ijyuin (伊集院 メイ) (voiced by Yukari Tamura) - the little sister of Rei Ijyuin from the first game. She becomes a student in the beginning of the second year. She is very haughty and, until you get to know her better, never seen without her butler.
- Akane Ichimonji (一文字 茜) (voiced by Mayumi Nomura) - a cheerful, poor girl who works a part-time job as a waitress to pay her way through school.
- Homura Akai (赤井 ほむら) (voiced by Motoko Kumai) - an energetic tomboy who loves video games and anime. She is also good friends with Akane as well as the school principal.
- Maho Shirayuki (白雪 真帆) (voiced by Hikari Tachibana) - Miho's twin sister who goes to Kirameki High. She looks much like her sister except for her bigger breasts.
- Sumire Nozaki (野咲 すみれ) (voiced by Emi Motoi) - a talented circus performer who travels with her father, who runs the circus. She doesn't have many friends.
- Maeka Kudanshita (九段下 舞佳) (voiced by Miho Yamada) - a delivery girl who's good friends with Kasumi.
- Takumi Sakaki (坂城 匠) (voiced by Yuki Masuda) - the information otaku of the school. He'll give you the girls' phone numbers, as well as basic information on them.
- Jun'ichirō Hokari (穂刈 純一郎) (voiced by Kenji Nojima) - a friend of Takumi's who plays kendo and is shy around women. In the Drama CD's he has a crush on Kaedeko.
