The following is a list of the main characters from the fictional strategy role-playing game Front Mission 5: Scars of the War by Square Enix for the Playstation 2 video game console.
[edit] Walter FengWalter is the game's main male protagonist. Walter first experiences the realities of war in the 1st Huffman Conflict, which inspires him to enlist in the USN Army. In the 2nd Huffman Conflict, Walter encounters former best friend Glen Duval on three separate occasions. After the war, he applies to join the Strike Wyverns, which sets in motion events that lead to more encounters with Glen. Over the years, Feng works very hard in military operations, gaining the respect of his colleagues and superiors. While he is a patriot, Feng is conflicted between following his moral code or the USN's on many occasions. Feng also appears in Front Mission 1st where he meets the Silver Lynxes prior to the Freedom invasion operation. [edit] Lynn WenrightLynn is the game's main female protagonist. Her military history includes graduating from the Home 47 division and serving in the Barghest outfit. Upon leaving the Barghest for undisclosed reasons, she assumes command of the Strike Wyverns. She is well known for her always-serious and demanding attitude, despite having a soft spot for Walter. Every Marine in the Strike Wyverns obey her out of fear of being sent to the "Kill House," a location where she deals with disobedient soldiers. Over time, Wenright falls in love with Walter and the two eventually get married. Their daughter, who resembles Lynn, is shown in the epilogue. [edit] Randy O'NeillRandy is a childhood friend of Walter and Glen, growing up together in Freedom City. Randy's decision to enlist in the USN Army was influenced by the scars that Walter and Glen received during a skirmish in the 1st Huffman Conflict (shown in the game's opening sequence). Walter and Randy trained at the Home 47 division and later served in the infantry, though Randy desired to become a wanzer pilot. Though a nice and pleasant person, O'Neill rarely comes across as reliable in regards to military work. Despite his apparent capriciousness, he has a strong sense of right and wrong and he loathes unfair play. O'Neill also appears in Front Mission 1st where he meets the Silver Lynxes prior to the Freedom invasion operation. [edit] Glen DuvalGlen is another childhood friend of Walter and Randy. In the game's opening sequence, Glen protected Walter from bullet casings fired by a nearby wanzer(which is how they received their scars). While Randy and Walter enlisted in the USN military, Glen signed up for the OCU military. He encounters both of them on the separate occasions in the future, killing Randy on the third encounter. Since the Fort Monus City experience, Glen and Walter have crossed paths in the future around the world. Through intelligence reports, it is revealed that Glen works for the Grimnir and has the S-Type Device implanted, though he suffers from its worst condition. Despite this, Glen masters and perfects the device's capabilities, making him a very capable and deadly wanzer pilot. Duval also appears in Front Mission 2089-II and Front Mission 1st. In the former, Glen is shown to be working with the OCU Border Patrol unit at Mail River. In the latter, he befriends Roid Clive at a wanzer training session and later on in the game when he has the S-Type Device. [edit] Edward CollinsEdward is an acquaintance of Walter's and acts as a squadron leader for the Strike Wyverns. He enlisted in the USN Army and studied at Home 47, which is where Walter, Randy, and Lynn received military training. After an undisclosed period of time, Edward applies and gets accepted into the Strike Wyverns outfit. He is good friends with Walter and Lynn, though the latter is particularly annoyed at his personality. Edward's personality is described with the quote, "Even speaking to him once in three years is more than enough." Edward therefore loves chatting, and gives everyone a headache except for Walter. Collins enjoys exercising when off-duty, though he views wanzer piloting as a form of exercise as well. [edit] Hector ReynoldsHector is a lieutenant-colonel and the leader of the elite Barghest outfit. Reynolds' military history is unknown, though it is documented that he was a test subject for the S-Type Device. Hector and Lynn once worked together in the Barghest, but Wenright abhors working with him for undisclosed reasons. This is evident when she attempts to shoot Hector during an operation to eliminate the Hawkes terrorist group. As the Barghest specializes in anti-terrorist operations, Hector has plenty of connections worldwide to gather data on terrorist activities. He is involved with gathering data on the Grimnir terrorist organization and its leader, Morgan Bernard. Reynolds also appears in Front Mission 1st, where he meets and befriends Kevin Greenfield at the Fort Monus bar. [edit] Emir "Emma" KramskoiFirst appearing in Front Mission 3, Emir is the chief scientist of a new radiation-based technology known as MIDAS. Kramskoi is assigned to the USN Alaska Special Radiation Laboratory to develop the system. Although the initial purpose of the project was to develop a new source of clean energy, Emir is not pleased when the USN military wants to turn it into a weapon. Walter and Hector become good friends with Emir despite knowing that she is a product of the Imaginary Number Project. Through conversations, Emir reveals the existence of another MIDAS called the Mass Interparticle Dissociation Antiproton Synthesizer. This MIDAS is the original version and uses antimatter as its power source. The version seen in Front Mission 3 uses stabilized radiation and is much weaker in terms of power output. Her nickname "Emma" was given to her by Walter while staying at the research complex. [edit] Morgan BernardThe game's main antagonist, Morgan is the S-Type Device creator and leader of the Grimnir terrorist organization. Data on him is largely unknown, but it is known that he is a former medical doctor who worked in war-ravaged areas to treat the ill and wounded. It is also known that he holds extreme pro-nationalist views and rallied many worldwide, from politics to military brass, to Grimnir. Since 2080, Bernard has instigated a never-ending stream of incidents that, directly or indirectly, triggered conflicts seen in previous Front Missions (2089: Border of Madness/1st/2/3/4). Morgan's existence and actions are hinted at in the aforementioned installments, but only in Front Mission 1st and Front Mission 2 does he make an actual appearance. [edit] External links
