Linda Lapointe (born in Laval, Quebec) is a politician from Quebec, Canada. She was an Action démocratique du Québec (ADQ) Member of the National Assembly for the electoral district of Groulx from 2007 to 2008.

Lapointe has a college diploma in health sciences from the CEGEP Ahuntsic. She also went at the Université de Montréal and receive a bachelor's degree in business administration. Before her election, she managed and owned a Provigo grocery store. She also worked for the Association des détaillants en alimentation du Québec (Quebec food retailers association) as a treasurer, for the Boisbriand Economic Development Committee and for Emploi-Quebec. She was also a candidate in the Boisbriand municipal election in 2005.

[edit] Provincial Legislature

Lapointe was first elected to the National Assembly of Quebec in the 2007 election. At one point, she had considered running for the Liberals, but eventually joined the ADQ. [1] She received 37% of the vote. Liberal incumbent Pierre Descoteaux finished third with 27% of the vote. Lapointe took office on April 12, 2007 and was named the critic for economic development and the Montreal region until 2008. [2] She is also the current assistant whip of the official opposition party.

She campaigned on behalf of local Conservative candidate Claude Carignan during the federal election of 2008. [3] Carignan finished a distant second against Bloc Québécois candidate Luc Desnoyers in the district of Rivière-des-Mille-Îles.
