Lincoln University

Lincoln University is a private, nonprofit, nonsectarian university based in Oakland, California. The university is located next to the 12th Street BART station in downtown Oakland. It enrolls about 700 students in undergraduate and graduate level programs in Business Administration, as well an English language program, certificate programs, and associate degrees. A large percentage of the student body is comprised of international students pursuing degrees in Business Administration. The university is currently led by Dr. Mikhail Brodsky, president and rector.

The university’s Multidisciplinary Research Center gives students an opportunity to collaborate with academic researchers and the international business community. The center conducts an annual student competition for the best business proposals and awards grants and prizes to winning students.

Dr. Benjamin Franklin Lickey with his wife Susan founded the university in San Francisco in 1919 to provide a means of higher education for returning veterans after the First World War and other working adults by offering evening classes for part-time students. Named to honor the life and work of President Abraham Lincoln, it was chartered under the laws of California in 1926, and its nonprofit status was recognized by the Internal Revenue Service in 1950. The university moved from San Francisco to Oakland in 2001. [1]

Lincoln University is accredited to award Doctors's, Master's, Bachelor's, and Associate degrees, and professional certificates by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS). ACICS is listed as a nationally recognized accrediting agency by the United States Department of Education and is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).

The Bureau for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education of the State of California in accordance with the provisions of the California Education Code 94900 and/or 94915 approves Lincoln University to offer the Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) Degree, Master of Business Administration (MBA) Degree, the Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration Degree, the Associate of Science in Diagnostic Imaging Degree, and Certificates in Medical Assisting, for Ultrasound Technicians, and Intensive English Program.

Lincoln University is authorized by the United States Department of Homeland Security to enroll nonimmigrant alien students.

Lincoln University is listed as an eligible institution in the Directory of Postsecondary Institutions as published by the United States Department of Education and CHEA.

Lincoln University is approved to participate in the Financial Aid Programs established by Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended in 1998. [3] [4]
