Wesley Eric Weston, Jr.[1][2] (born March 3, 1981),[1] better known by his stage name Lil' Flip, is a multi-Platinum American rapper. Lil' Flip is known for his freestyle ability and claims to have been on 1000 mixtapes.
[edit] Music career[edit] The LeprechaunThe Leprechaun is the first album released independently from Houston rapper Lil' Flip. The album spawned the single "I Can Do That". It sold originally 200,000 domestic copies but was later certified gold. [edit] Undaground LegendUndaground Legend is Lil' Flip's most critically acclaimed album. It was released by Loud Records and didn't get much promotion. It sold 70,000 domestic copies in its first week and went on to be certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The few critics that did review it stated that it is one of the best rap albums to come out of both Texas and the south. They praised his lyrical quality. Praising his songs "What I been Through" feat Big T, Lil Ron, and Yung Redd, "Make Mama Proud" and "R.I.P DJ Screw" feat Bizzy Bone. They said that with more promotion and if those songs were released as singles that the album could have been a worldwide crossover success. [edit] U Gotta Feel MeU Gotta Feel Me is his most successful album to date. Lil' Flip signed to Sony Urban Music and released his first single, "Game Over". He released his second single, "Sunshine" featuring Lea. Game over reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and Sunshine reached #2. Both gaining platinum status. This album sold 198,000 domestic copies in its first week and later went on to sell over 2 million copies to be certified 2x Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). [edit] I Need MineLil' Flip's album I Need Mine was released March 27, 2007. It was set to be released earlier but due to differences with his record label Sony Urban Music, the album being leaked by Sony Urban Music, among other things Lil' Flip decided to buy out his contract.He also decided to take it back to the studio and record more songs. The first single was a track entitled "What It Do" but after album redid the album his new single became "Ghetto Mindstate" with received numerous radio play and video spins on 106 And Park. The album ended up being a double disk and had 39 tracks (20 on the first disk & 19 on the second disk). After the "I Need Mine Tour", Flip announced his new group Dream Team. It sold 150,000 domestic copies in its first week and went on to be certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). [edit] Respect MeLil' Flip's album Respect Me was released on September 29, 2009[3]. This album was released on Clover G/Hi Power Entertainment/E1 Entertainment.[4] Lil Flip calls it the "album-before-the-album"[4] Guest appearances for the album include Eden, Kokane, Jay Townsend, Ceven & Bobby Moon. The first single from the album is Da #1 Fly Boy, which features singer Jay Townsend. A video for the single was released on October 30, 2009.[5] [edit] Underground Legend 2Lil' Flip's Underground Legend 2 was released on December 24, 2009.[6] This album is described by Lil' Flip as "the second album before the album" and is the sequel to his 2002 Undaground Legend album. The first single from the album is "She Like My Swagger", which features Bobby Moon. The album is going to be released on Clover G/Asylum/Warner Bros.
