It was an ancient city of Egypt in the 13th nome of Lower Egypt (the Heliopolite nome), on the Pelusiac branch of the Nile.

To be found is some earthwork enclosure of the late Middle Kingdom or Second Intermediate Period, containing temple and palace of Ramesses II. Also remains of temple and town of Onias and cemeteries of the Middle Kingdom and later.
