Lee Crooks is a former professional rugby league footballer of the 1980s and '90s, and coach of the 1990s and 2000s who at representative level has played for Great Britain, England, and Yorkshire, and at club level for Hull F.C., Western Suburbs Magpies, Balmain Tigers, Leeds, and Castleford, playing at Prop forward, or Second-row forward, i.e. number 8 or 10, 11 or 12, and at club level has coached for Keighley Cougars, and York City Knights.

Lee Crooks won a cap for England while at Castleford in 1992 against Wales, and won caps for Great Britain while at Hull in 1982 against Australia (2 matches); in 1984 against France (sub), and Australia (2 matches); in 1985 against New Zealand, and New Zealand (sub); in 1986 against France (2 matches), and Australia (3 matches); in 1987 against France; while at Leeds in 1989 against France; while at Castleford in 1992 against France (2 matches), Papua New Guinea, and Australia; and in 1994 against France.[1]

Only eighteen players have ever scored drop goals for Great Britain, they are; Tommy Bishop (3), Lee Crooks (1), Jonathan Davies (2), Bobbie Goulding (1), Ken Gowers (1), John Gray (1), Neil Holding (1), John Holmes (2), Syd Hynes (3), Jim Jolley (1), Sean Long (1), Roger Millward (1), Steve Nash (1), Harry Pinner (1), Garry Schofield (7), Paul Sculthorpe (2), Jim Sharrock (1), and Tony Smith (1).[2]

Lee Crooks played in four Challenge Cup finals, including; Hull F.C.’s 14-14 draw with Widnes in the 1982 Challenge Cup final at Wembley Stadium on the 1st May 1982, the 18-9 victory over Widnes in the replay at Elland Road, Leeds on the 19th May 1982, the 14-12 defeat to Featherstone Rovers in the 1983 Challenge Cup final at Wembley Stadium on the 7th May 1983, Lee Crooks played Loosehead Prop forward, i.e. number 8, and was captain in Hull F.C.’s 24-28 defeat to Wigan in the 1985 Challenge Cup final at Wembley Stadium on the 4th May 1985, played Loosehead Prop forward, i.e. number 8, in Castleford’s 12-28 defeat to Wigan in the 1992 Challenge Cup final at Wembley Stadium on the 2nd May 1992.[3]
