[edit] Club career

[edit] Lanús

Acosta came through the youth system at Lanús to make his professional debut in 2006. He quickly became an important part of the first team due to the fact that Lanús are a club that often sell their best players.

Acosta was part of the Lanús squad that won the Apertura 2007 tournament, the clubs first ever top flight league title.

In May 2007, Acosta suffered a serious cheekbone injury and had to wear a specially fitted face mask for 2 months.

[edit] Sevilla FC

On May 29, 2008, Acosta signed for La Liga team Sevilla on a five-year contract for a reported fee of €7 million, subject to a medical.[1]

[edit] International

In 2007 Acosta was picked to join the Argentina Under-20 squad to compete in the 2007 South American Youth Championship in Paraguay. He headed the only goal in the last game against Uruguay to secure Argentina's qualification for both 2007 FIFA U-20 World Cup and 2008 Olympic Games.

Later in 2007 he was part of the Argentina squad that won the 2007 U-20 World Cup title in Canada. He also scored a goal for his country in the first group league game against Côte d'Ivoire in a 2–1 win in the Beijing Olympics.
