Lausanne Sports (also referred to as LS) is a sports club from Lausanne, Switzerland. It is most famous for its football department (FC Lausanne-Sport), but the club has also athletics, sport rowing, and rink hockey departments.
[edit] HistoryThe football-section was founded in 1896 under the name of Montriond Lausanne. However, the Lausanne Football and Cricket Club was established in 1860, believed to be the oldest football club on the European continent by some historians.[citation needed] The club took its current name in 1920 after the football section merged with the Club Hygiénique de Lausanne, a physical education club. [edit] FootballFC Lausanne-Sport won the Swiss Super League seven times and the Swiss Cup nine times. The club currently play in the Swiss Challenge League. The club play at the Stade Olympique de la Pontaise (16'000, all seated), a stadium used for the 1954 FIFA World Cup. [edit] Honours
