[edit] Programs

The college has a number of certificate and diploma programs from one to three years.[5] The college also offers post-graduate certificates and specialized training[6]. More recently, the college has begun offering two bachelor degree programs in conjunction with University of Windsor.[7][8] There are also a number of Continuing Education programs and courses available, both in class and online. [9]

[edit] Buildings and Features

Lambton College is noted for its strength in the Technology and Applied Science department due to its proximity to Ontario, Canada's Petrochemical & Industrial Manufacturing sector. Additionally, it is the only school to house an industry fire house in Canada.

In 1998, the Sarnia Sports and Entertainment Centre was built on the college's campus. It is the home arena to the Sarnia Sting of the Ontario Hockey League, and is primarily used as a hockey arena. However, there are numerous shows, concerts and events that happen throughout the year.

[edit] Student Life

Students have a variety of entertainment options, such as gathering in the student lounge during breaks, enjoying time with friends in the Lion's Den, finding a good book in the library, or going to the common room in the residence. The student council recently updated the furnishings with an outside deck theme.

[edit] Lion's Den

The Lion’s Den is the campus’ fully licensed pub and entertainment facility. There is plenty to do, with 3 pool tables, an air hockey table, video games, darts, TVs and music playing constantly.[10]

[edit] Residence

Lambton Inn: The Lambton College Residence

The college's dormitory, The Lambton Inn, has 140 double rooms. Each room is equipped with a full bathroom, 2 desks, beds and armoires.[11] The residence, in a separate lot, is a short walk to the school, including the library, student centre and gym, as well as the Sarnia Sports and Entertainment Centre. A shopping centre is within walking distance, providing most shopping needs[12].

[edit] Homage Controversy

The remains of Homage in the field behind the school.

In 1974, the college commissioned Hadyn Davies to construct Homage, a wooden structure, outside the main entrance of the college. In 2005, the college tore it down with a backhoe, citing safety concerns due to an ant infestation and other animals degrading the structure. Davies subsequently sued the college contending the college failed to maintain the structure. [13]

A video 'homage 2 Homage' has been made calling it an arbitrary decision to destroy the structure.

The story of the sculpture's destruction inspired a play, called Homage, by Anthony Black. The play was first produced by 2b theatre company of Halifax, Nova Scotia.[14]
