L'Express is a daily newspaper, published in Mauritius since 1963 and owned by La Sentinelle, Ltd which has close ties with the Mauritius Commercial Bank, the country's largest commercial bank. L'express is widely considered as the voice of the island's sugar barons and its editorial line has shown a strong bias towards any political movement which have demanded controversial advantages for the sugar industry. Although it is one of the most read dailies of Mauritius it has been facing stiffer competition from new players which have been quicker to embrace the latest technological platform.
