Kya Dil Mein Hai is an Indian soap opera produced by Ekta Kapoor of Balaji Telefilms that started to air around the time 9X had launched. The soap has been airing every Friday - Saturday for 1 hour and debuted in December, 2007 as the second Balaji soap to be aired on 9X (i.e. Kahe Naa Kahe). Plot Kya Dill Mein Hai is the story of a Bengali girl named Kakoon and her journey. Kakoon and Anurag meet each other on a train for the first time. Kakoon thinks Anurag is actually her brother-in-law to be and brings him home with her. Finally when they reach home everything is cleared and Anurag introduces himself as a photographer who has come from London to cover an Indian wedding. Kakoon's family let him stay in their house to cover the wedding. During his stay, he starts falling in love with Kakoon. Kakoon doesn't really believe in love and wants to get married to the person her grandfather chooses for her. Slowly she also starts falling in love with him. Kakoon's grandfather had already chosen a guy for her, but she doesn't want to get married to him. Kakoon's mother finds out about this and decides to get her married to Anurag without anyone knowing. Anurag's friend Naina attends their wedding and gets Kakoon to sign the marriage registration paper. Right after the wedding, Anurag says he has to go to Mumbai because something urgent has come up. Kakoon and her mother go back to their house to attend the wedding of her cousin brother. Someone starts black mailing Kakoon's mother about an incident that occurred twenty years ago. The mysterious guy threatens to tell Kakoon about the secret, but Kakoon's mother begs him not to and says she'll do anything he wants. When Kakoon's mother goes to get the proof from the guy she gets into a accident and dies. Kakoon's grandfather decides to get Kakoon engaged to the guy he chose, and Kakoon then tells him about her marriage to Anurag. And finally the secret comes out too that she is actually adopted. Her aunt kicks her out of the house and her grandfather too doesn't interfere because she went against her family's wishes and got married to Anurag. After getting kicked out of the house she goes to Mumbai looking for Anurag. Finally, when she finds him, a horrible truth emerges. Anurag is actually Rahul Punj and Naina is his childhood friend-cum-fiance. Rahul reveals he betrayed her and never really loved her. The only reason he married her was because of a certain piece of land that Naina wanted. The land could ony be given to Kakoon's husband. He had to betray her because he loved Naina so much that he could do anything for her. On the day of Rahul and Naina's wedding, Kakoon sits in the mandap instead of Naina without anyone knowing. When everyone sees Naina they are all surprised and start wondering who the woman sitting next to Rahul in the mandap is. Kakoon finally shows her face and tells eveyone the truth about what had happened in Calcutta, but no one believes her and Rahul denies knowing her. Once again she gets kicked out of the house and decides to commit suicide. Luckily Aman saves her. Aman happens to be Rahul's elder brother but Kakoon doesn't find this out until much later. He is a lawyer and he is the one who actually helps her out and gives her courage. Kakoon goes back to the Punj house to claim her rights. Obviously, no one accepts her. They keep throwing tantrums and cursing her. Cast
