Palestinian Stuffed Eggplant (Mahshi Batinjaan) Recipe scientificpsychic.com |
Kousa Mahshi (Arabic: محشى كوسة) or Stuffed Marrows is squash or zucchini stuffed with rice and meat.[1] Originated in Syria[citation needed], it is also made in Egypt, Cyprus, Lebanon, Palestine, and Libya.[citation needed] This dish is served hot as a main course. In Syria, this dish is flavored with mint and garlic. It is not so necessarily "Arabic" by origin or tradition, but more of Chaldean, Syriac (Assyrio-Aramaic), Turkish, and Greek sphere of influence.[citation needed] It was adopted by the Arabs after they invaded the Middle-East Levant, but is still eaten among those groups mentioned as well.[citation needed] In Cyprus, the flowers of the marrow are also stuffed.[2] [edit] References
