[edit] Chart performance Konvicted debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 chart, selling over 284,000 copies.[1] The album was able to stay within the top twenty for 28 consecutive weeks, but eventually started to drop slowly. On its sixth week, it broke the one million mark,[2] though it was certified platinum two weeks later. In its tenth week it had a total of 1.3 million copies. The album was officially certified double platinum on its sixteenth week. 2 million records were sold after twenty weeks. After thirty weeks on the chart it had moved 2.4 million units. On November 19, 2007, the RIAA has certified the Konvicted album triple platinum status with 3 million units sold in the United States. Currently it has sold more than 5 Million worldwide as of 1.1.2008 Despite not being Akon's highest charting song, Smack That is his biggest song. The album became the second best selling record of the year on the Billboard 200 charts. [edit] Deluxe Edition Akon Deluxe Platinum Edition of Konvicted featured three new songs including the hit single "Sorry, Blame It on Me". The new album includes "Rush" featuring Kardinal Offishall which appeared in the summer blockbuster Rush Hour 3. The third song is a remix to "Don't Matter", which is the remix featured in the video near the end. The new Konvicted includes a documentary of Akon where visits his homeland, Senegal. Music videos of the hit singles "Smack That", "I Wanna Love You" and "Don't Matter" came with the set as well.[3] [edit] Peak position and certification | Chart (2006)[4] | Providers | Peak position | Certification | Sales | | The Billboard 200 (U.S.) | Billboard | 2[5] | 3x Platinum | 2,830,000+ | | Billboard Comprehensive Albums (U.S.) | Billboard | 2[6] | | Billboard Internet Albums (U.S.) | Billboard | 2[5] | | Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Albums (U.S.) | Billboard | 2[5] | | The Official UK Album Chart | BPI/The Official UK Charts Company | 16[7] | Platinum | 410,000[8] | | Australian Album Chart | ARIA | 16[9] | Platinum | 70,000+ | | Australian Urban Album Chart | ARIA | 3[9] | Platinum | | | Belgian Album Chart | Ultratop / Nielsen | 33[10] | | | | Canadian Albums Chart | Nielsen Soundscan | 4[5] | 2x Platinum[11] | 200,000+ | | Czech Album Chart | IFPI | 23[12] | - | - | | Danish Album Chart | IFPI / Nielsen | 31[13] | - | - | | French Album Chart | SNEP/IFOP | 7[14] | - | 118,000[15] | | Irish Album Chart | IRMA | 12[16] | Platinum[17] | - | | Japanese Album Chart | Oricon | 18[18] | - | 58,600[18] | | New Zealand Album Chart | RIANZ | 1[19] | 2x Platinum[20] | 30,000 | | Swedish Album Chart | GLF | 41[21] | | | | Swiss Album Chart | Media Control Europe | 23[22] | Gold[23] | 15,000 | [edit] References Note: All citations to magazine articles lead to a website where scans of these magazines can be viewed free of charge [edit] See also | Akon | | | Albums | | | | Singles | | | | Featured singles | | | | Other songs | | | | Related articles | | |
