Kol Sverkerson was a son of Sverker I of Sweden, named after his ancestor as was traditional in medieval Sweden (the eldest son was usually named after the paternal great-grandfather or maternal grandfather). His mother is unknown. He claimed the throne, apparently in tandem with his younger half brother Boleslas Sverkerson, after his half brother Charles Sverkersson was murdered by Canute Ericson. He held the throne in opposition to Canute for a few years. He was probably killed in battle or murdered by Canute's men before 1170.
