Kofax (in operation since 1985) is headquartered in Irvine, CA. In 1999, it was acquired by DICOM Group. The company manufactures and sells computer hardware, software, and services.

Kofax claims that their Products and Services help accelerate business processes by collecting paper documents, forms, invoices, unstructured documents, e-documents, intelligently transforming them into accurate, retrievable information and delivering it into business applications and databases.[2]

Since 1985, Kofax has been the leading innovator in the conversion of unstructured documents and data into reusable electronic business information.[3]

Kofax products pioneered the concept of PC-based document image processing, focusing on PC-based hardware that accelerated the scanning, viewing and printing of high-resolution document images. Kofax also led the industry with cutting-edge development tools that simplified the integration of document image processing into software applications.

In January 2008 the Parent company changed its name to Kofax (KFX.L). The name Kofax now refers to the parent company formerly known as DICOM.
