Kje (or Kte) (Ќ, ќ) is a letter of the Cyrillic alphabet, used in the Macedonian language. It represents a voiceless palatal plosive or a voiceless alveolo-palatal affricate (/c/ and /tɕ/, respectively). It can be transliterated using <ć> (eg. Вреќа - Vreća - sack), or sometimes as <kj> (vrekja). Words with this sound are most often cognates to those in Serbian with <ћ>/<ć> and in Croatian, Bosnian and Montenegrin with <ć>. For example, Macedonian шеќер (Šećer/Šekjer, 'sugar') corresponds to Serbian шећер/šećer and Croatian, Bosnian and Montenegrin šećer. It is romanized as <ḱ> or <kj>. [edit] See also
