The Kinky Hose is a type of hairstyle, involving a ponytail above the crown of the neck, positioned directly on top of the head. The style originated as the Nape braid did, in the red light district of Yokohama, Japan, but in 1992 instead^[1]. The style has most recently been seen in adult films in early 2008, including Kinky Hoes 3^[2]. In the summer of 2008, the hairstyle was seen on mainstream Hollywood stars Lauren Conrad and Heidi Montag.^[3]

The style is created by gathering the top third of hair into a ponytail, with one end of the ponytail tucked back into the elastic. A clip is then positioned on the tucked portion to create the Kinky Hose effect with the ends of the hair fanned out.
