Kentridge High School, located on 43 acres (170,000 m2) in Kent, Washington, is the second-oldest and second-largest high school in the Kent School District. It serves mainly students in the northeastern region of the district.
[edit] AcademicsKentridge offers Advanced Placement courses in Computer Science, Art, Calculus (AB and BC), Statistics, Human Geography, US History, US Government and Politics, Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Physics (B), and Psychology. Languages available for students to take are French, Spanish, Japanese, and American Sign Language (ASL). All of the languages have courses up to the 4th year or 7-8 level, except ASL and Japanese which are only offered up to the third year level. Kentridge's mascot is known as "Charlie the Charger" which is displayed as a horse. [edit] AthleticsKentridge is a part of the North Division in Washington's 4A South Puget Sound League. The school has a lasting rivalry with Kentwood High School, the other Kent High School power house. The most recent team State Championship was won by the Fastpitch Softball team in 2002. The boys basketball team lost a double overtime game to Joel E Ferris High School in the 2007 4A state finals.[1] Kentridge had previously won the state title in 1992 under Coach Brian Pendleton and led by Warren King with a convincing 66-55 win over Kamiakin High School.[2]
The Kentridge Men's Tennis team was honored as the academic state champions of 2002. The Kentridge Judo team consistently takes first place in state every year. Judo has never, since the opening of the school in 1968, been honored with any academic awards at all [2] Kentridge High School's current activities director is Mr. Eric Anderson. Kentridge Chatelaines, the competitive dance team, has won 1st in State numerous times, and/or placed in nearly every category in which they compete almost every year at the WIAA State Dance Drill Championships.
