Katpadi(காட்பாடி, pronounced Katpaadi) also spelled Kattuppadi(காட்டுப்பாடி), is an area in Vellore, at the northern most part of Vellore city in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.

Katpadi is located at 12°59′N 79°08′E / 12.98°N 79.13°E / 12.98; 79.13.^[1] It has an average elevation of 224 metres (734 feet).

Katpadi was once a village and was upgraded to a panchayat town. It has its own Taluk office. It is also an Assembly Constituency. The original Katpadi village is now called Old Katpadi which lies on the district road which connects Thiruvalam and Gudiyatham. Katpadi lies in the northern side of the Palar river. The Andhra Pradesh state border is just a 5 minute drive from Katpadi. With Vellore being upgraded to a Corporation, Katpadi has also been included in the city limits.

A railway line which connects Tamil Nadu to Karnataka, Kerala and Andra Pradesh to Tamil Nadu [Chennai - Bangalore, Thiruvananthapuram and Tirupathi - Mysore] passes through Katpadi and the Chittoor - Cuddalore SH 9 (state highway) passes through a major part of Katpadi.

The Katpadi Junction is the station which connects Vellore town with Chennai, Bangalore, Tirupathi, Coimbatore, Mysore and other Cities in northern and western India. Vellore town, Thiruvannamalai and Villupuram will be connected to Katpadi junction through a broad gauge railway line.

Katpadi Railway Junction is one of the important junctions in Southern Railway with code KPD. The number of commuters have increased tremendously mainly due to the Christian Medical College & Hospital (CMC), Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), the temple town of Tirupati and recently due to the Golden temple at Sripuram.
