Kanivenarayanapura is a centrally located historical town situated 6 km from Chikballapur, 3 km from Nandi Village and 1 km from Muddenahalli in Chikballapur District of Karnataka State. It is adjacent to the birth place of Sir.M.Visweswaraih, one of India's most legendary engineers. The village is situated with a picturesque backdrop of the five hills of North Bangalore including Nandi Hills, Channa Giri, Skandagiri, and Brahma Giri. It is known for its extremely fertile land fed by pure mountain aquifers and the cultivation of grapes, cotton, coconuts, eucalyptus, and silk. There is an abundance of varied wildlife including endangered species from the nearby hills. It is within 2 km of Chikkarayappanahalli lake which is the basin for the river Akavathi. Tipu Sultan's dominion over the Nandi Hills area extended to Kanivenarayanapura, his summer retreat. Mahatma Gandhi is said to have stopped here to eat and take rest en route to Nandi Village where he spent time in convalescence.^[1]

It is the corporate headquarters of the companies Sapthagiri Buidtech Pvt Ltd, Pruthvi Stone Crusher Pvt Ltd, and Tangam Blue Metals Pvt Ltd. It is also the one of the sites of an upcoming 70 crore "Silk City" set to be the textile headquarters of North Bangalore. ^[2] It is in close proximity to the upcoming 2500 Acre Olympic quality "Sports Village" and 200 acre Special Economic Zone with plans for shopping malls, commercial highrises, and luxurious villas. The 1000 crore Prestige Golfshire resort with 300 room 5-star Hotel is within 4 km.^[3] Kanivenaryanapura is located within 1 kilometer of the upcoming Sathya Sai Baba University and School of Medicine ^[4], Indian Institute of Technology Muddenahalli as well as the 600 crore Visvesvaraya Institute of Advanced Technology ^[5][6]. The Children of Sathya Sai Baba Foundation from the nearby Muddenahalli-Sathya Sai Loka Seva School have adopted Kanivenaryanapura and are ensuring access to clean water, sanitation, schooling, and employment of the villagers. Villagers from all backgrounds are religions live harmoniously in the region. The villagers have banded together and formed a co-operative society for governance.^[7] Many come from underprivileged backgrounds. A new temple, large community hall, school, sanitation and irrigation system, healthcare facilities, park, and spacious homes are being constructed. As a result of this rapid development and the limited supply of sellers, property in this area is in high demand, with rates hovering over one crore per acre. C.Aswathanarayana, the BJP MP candidate in Chikballapur is a landowner in the village.^[8]

Kanivenaryanapura can be reached by bus, it is 50 km from Bangalore via Yelahanka and Devanahalli. Due to the efforts of Former Chief Minister and ranking Union Cabinet Minister Veerappa Moily, a new railway line and station is being created linking Kanivenaryanapura to nearby Muddenahalli, Chikballapur, Doddaballapur, and Bangalore. This along with the proposed widening of the roads leading to and from Kanivenarayanapura is set to make this area a key transportation hub in North Bangalore.
