University Hospital Center Zagreb (Clinical Hospital Center) Zagreb, Croatia was established in 1942, as a University Hospital Zagreb, popularly known also as Rebro. Hospital is equipped with 2100 hospital beds and serves most of Central and Northern Croatia for specialist and acute medical procedures. KBC Is one of the largest hospitals in Croatia with some 4712 permanent staff and as many medical student working at the hospital. "University Hospital Center Zagreb" is a publicly funded hospital providing general and advanced medical care. Hospital is one of few in Europe to have gamma knife and by scope of medical procedures hospital can easily be considered as one of the best medical facilities in central and southern Europe.

In 2002 than SDP Government of Ivica Račan agreed to invest 75 million euros in to expanding the hospital, which would enable hospital to move most clinics that were spread-out across the city in to one central location but also adding new surgical wing with additional 36 operating theaters, by the end of 2008 most of the works were completed, although some work is still ongoing. Hospital once completed should have around 2500 beds. As of 2007[update], the hospital consists of 30 clinics and 7 specialized institutes,
