Julie Chu (born March 13 1982) is an American Olympic ice hockey player who plays the position of forward on the Women's Ice Hockey team. She stands at a height of 5’8”. Chu's hometown is Fairfield, Connecticut, although she resided in Cambridge, Massachusetts during her college years. She now lives in Minneapolis/St Paul, Minnesota where she trains and plays for the US National Team. In 2007-08 she worked as an Assistant Coach for the University of Minnesota-Duluth and helped them win a NCAA Division I National Championship in Women's Ice Hockey.

Julie Chu was born in New York, New York to parents Wah and Miriam Chu. She has one sister, Christina, and one brother, Richard. As a child, she participated in soccer and figure skating before transitioning into youth hockey. Julie graduated in 2001 from Choate Rosemary Hall. She deferred her acceptance into Harvard until after the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics.

Chu is the first Asian American woman and first Chinese American woman to play for the U.S. Olympic ice hockey team, and played in the 2002 and 2006 games. She won the Patty Kazmaier Award in 2007 for best female collegiate hockey player.

During her time at Harvard, she was an influential player and teammate. While at Harvard, Julie became the All Time Leading Scorer in NCAA History. Julie additionally was the Team Captain at Harvard.

She graduated with Honors from Harvard University in 2007 with a concentration in Psychology.[1]

The official world competition was first held in 1990. With the inception of women's hockey in the Winter Olympics in 1998, the tournament is not held in Olympic years.

As a Freshman (2002-03):Named to the All-America Second Team … ECACH and Ivy League Rookie of the Year … First Team All-ECACH and All-Ivy League selection … Named to the NCAA Frozen Four All-Tournament Team … Four-time ECACH Rookie of the Week … Second in the nation and first among rookies with 93 points (42-51) and 2.74 points per game … Second nationally in goals per game (1.24) and first with 11 power-play goals … Had two hat tricks.
